Steelmaking converter is an upright cylindrical furnace which does not need external heat source and mainly uses liquid pig iron as raw material to stop steelmaking. Subsequently, Anshan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Wuhan Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Shougang Iron and Steel Co., Ltd., Baosteel Co., Ltd., etc., have successively tested magnesia-carbon bricks on large and medium-sized converters, and the furnace life of converters has been greatly increased. Now China has become the world's special-shaped magnesia-carbon brick consumers. As the grade of magnesia-carbon brick increases from time to time, the furnace life of converter also increases to a large extent, which lays a foundation for reducing the cost of steelmaking. The research and practice indicate that the quality of raw materials has a great influence on the application effect of magnesia-carbon brick for converter.
